Introducing the Basso Bowl

Meet the newest piece in our dinnerware collection, the Basso Bowl. It’s a bowl/plate hybrid which takes its name from the Italian word basso meaning low or shallow. This low ceramic bowl joins the the Myrth dinnerware collection by popular request as it has been one of the most frequent customer requests. Welcome to the Myrth family Basso Bowl!

The Basso Bowl was designed for foods like pasta, risotto, and anything saucy or brothy. The low wide shape provides an ample flat surface to plate and cut food, while the shallow curved rim contains sauces and liquids. The Basso gives more air and space to dishes that would be overwhelmed in the depth of the Helping bowl or overflowing in the smaller Tasting Bowl, just like the roasted Black Futsu squash over creamy cheddar polenta shown above.

Now available in all 6 Myrth dinnerware colors!

We‘ve been using the Basso in our home cooking for the past few weeks and it is such a joy to plate food in. Honestly we can’t get enough of the Basso! I’m not a professional chef by any stretch but cooking is my passion, and my daily mediation. When I use the Basso I feel like I’m designing a plate of food, kinda like a chef. Sauces and creamy starches like polenta seem to gather in the center like a little pillow that I top with the simplest roasted veg, and then adorn with spices, herbs, and a good glug of EVOO to finish. It’s also a dream to use for brothy meals like stews or creamy things like beans of curry, and of course pasta of any variety. A few of the dishes we’ve cooked lately are shown below.

We’re so excited for your to use the new Basso in your home cooking too. You’ll love it for pasta - noodles, shaped, in brodo - they all present beautifully in the Basso. It’s saucier dishes like curry, brothy beans, bourguignon, mussels, and polenta where the Basso really shines, and where you’ll have the most fun plating and eating!

The Basso is now available for purchase individually in all six of our dinnerware glazes. It’s a great addition to your Myrth set or it can be added to any new dinnerware set purchase. We plan to fully integrate the Basso into our Sets early next year, so until then if you’d like to swap the Helping for the Basso in our 3pc, 4 pc, or 5pc sets just email us.
